~ DIY Mug Mac ~

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Preface:
This review will be a bit different, in all the best ways of course. As suggested by a lovely reader,  I tried out a microwavable mug mac & cheese recipe (get excited, you can try this at home)! This particular recipe is a hybrid of several that I found online, with some of my own tweaking. Read on for the recipe and review!

Recipe:
1/2 cup of elbow pasta
1/2 cup of water
1/2 cup of cheese (your choice)
1/4 cup of milk
Salt & Pepper to add flavor
A mug or bowl (of course)

Put the elbow noodles and the water into your mug and microwave for about 4 minutes (I took mine out and stirred it a bit at 2 min). Next, add the milk and the cheese to the mug and mix it up. For this particular experiment, I used cheddar cheese curds that I diced up a bit, but really anything will work. Put the mug back into the microwave for another 30 seconds or so (or until the cheese is mostly melted), and then stir until everything is evenly mixed. Finally, add some salt and pepper (or anything else you like) as desired. Viola!

Presentation:
~Results may vary~ be as jazzy or plain as you like!

Flavor: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Since you, reader, have the full power to choose the cheeses and seasonings that most tickle your fancy, the flavor ~should~ be perfect every time!

Creaminess: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Just like the flavor, you can alter the creaminess to your precise liking by varying the amount of milk you mix in with the cheese. As I like a very creamy mac, this one was perfection.

Cheesiness: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Divine. Just look at that picture – you could jump rope with those strings of cheese! It makes my mouth water just looking at it.

Texture: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
My main concern with the mug mac was that the noodle cook time would need to be adjusted a bit, but it was spot on at 4 minutes. Of course, you can always outdo me and throw in a little more textural pizazz. Breadcrumbs? Some pretzel bits, perhaps? The possibilities are endless.

Overall Experience:
I loved this mug mac! Although it may be a touch less convenient than Easy Mac, it’s a way to make your own mac & cheese (sans box and fake cheese) instantly. In addition to that, you have the full capability to flex your creative muscles to make it yours. For all you fellow college kids (I’d say adults, but lets be real), this is the perfect mac for you; instant, but a higher quality meal than Easy Mac or Ramen. What more could you ever ask for?

Try your own mug mac recipe and send me pictures of your favorite combinations!
