“Lobster Mac and Cheese”
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Presentation: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Let me start by mentioning that this mac & cheese is a side dish. Looking at the gallery of images above (yes, I really did add extra photos for full effect), I’d bet that your reaction to this “side” was similar to mine: “Holy shit, that’s a lot of mac and cheese.” Since we’re all about cheesy here, I’ll say that I was shell-shocked (insert sitcom laugh track). I mean, I’ve seen main course macs that are not nearly that gargantuan; you could feed a village with it. As a person with eyes far larger than my stomach, I was jazzed.
Flavor: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The cajun/creole seasoning sparked a true gastronomic fete. I cannot stress enough how infrequently restaurants successfully marry cheesiness to ancillary flavor profiles; it’s often an either/or situation, or a very uneven ratio. Not here!
Oh – I nearly forgot to mention the huge chunks of lobster claws in this dish! How could I be so foolish?! Add that to the pros list for this mac.

Creaminess: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Abundant, in all the best ways. Who doesn’t love stirring up a piping hot, creamy bowl of mac and cheese (or any pasta, really)? Picture yourself finally taking that first steamy bite, and just as you’re thinking that it couldn’t look any more delectable, strings of cheese pull up with your fork as you lift it. A Kodak moment.
Cheesiness: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
To avoid beating a dead horse, let me reiterate one thing: if you live for a great “cheese pull” in your mac, you’re in for a treat with this one.
Texture: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Cavatappi cooked perfectly, a luxe cream sauce, chunks of lobster claw; you get the picture, I think.
Overall Experience:
One of my favorite things is having such a great meal that I get to use this section to absolutely rave about a deserving eatery – Elwood’s Shells most definitely gets an all-around rave review from me!
All of our food was absolutely delicious (and came in incredibly shareable portions), especially the dessert. Those of you that know me personally know that my sweet tooth is insatiable; I think I almost perished at the sight of the banana cream pie I ordered. It’s a good thing that they make their portions so huge, because I could not stop eating. I don’t think I even came up for air, until I thought I was going to explode. How American of me!
The takeaway: EAT HERE.
